If you have downloaded an unwanted program from a site and it is interrupting the functionality of your system, you just rush to uninstall it quickly.
Thanks to Microsoft that introduced different straightforward ways to uninstall programs in Windows 10. In the previous versions of Windows, there were no direct ways to perform this task.
But now you can do it in different ways. Let’s see what you can do in this context.
Uninstall the Programs from the Start Menu
The start menu is the combination of Windows 10 default programs and the typical desktop apps. You can uninstall an unwanted app from here by following the steps below.
Click the “Start” to view its menu.
Select “All Apps” from here. It will show you the list of installed apps.
Right-click one program you want to remove from the system and select “Uninstall” from its context menu.
A confirmation message will appear. Show your consent, and the program is successfully removed.
Use Command Prompt (Admin)
It is again an effortless way to uninstall programs from Win 10. Here is how you can do so.
Right-click to the “Start” button to display its WinX menu. Select “Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.
Here, type a command “msiexec /(name of the program.msi” and press Enter. I have used “name of the program” in this command. You need to replace it with the program name. For example, If you want to uninstall Skype, the command should be “msiexec /Skype.msi.”
So, use it wisely. Now, Windows Installer pops up. You need to select “OK” to finish the Uninstallation process for your desired application.
Uninstall Program By Using Settings
You can uninstall any app from the Settings menu too. If you are unable to look for the program you want to uninstall in the Start menu, delete it by using the Settings menu.
Go to the “Start” menu and select “Settings” from here.
Select “System” category from here.
In the left pane, select “Apps & Features” to display its content. It will show you the list of apps in your system. Choose the app you want to remove.
Click the option “Uninstall” below. A notification window will appear to inform you that all of its content will be deleted. Select “Yes” to move ahead.
Uninstall From the Control Panel
Delete a program by using the Control Panel is a traditional way in Windows. Keep in your mind one thing. This method is only for the removal of the apps and programs you have installed in Win 10. It does not delete the Windows 10 Apps. Here is how to use it.
Right-click the “Start” button and click “Control Panel” from here.
In the Control Panel menu, select “Programs and Features” category.
Here appears the list of installed programs. You can select the one you want to remove and click “Uninstall” option above.
It will show you a confirmation message. Show your consent by clicking “Yes.” The application wizard will start its work to remove your desired app from the system.
Uninstall From Its Location in C Drive
If you know the location of the unwanted program in C Drive, you can delete it from there. Usually, it is beneficial when you encounter a malicious program.
Often, all of your efforts become futile to remove it by using the above-discussed methods.
You are unable to remove a malicious program by using the Control Panel, Command Prompt or by using the Settings.
It shows an error, and sometimes it indicates that the system is unable to delete this program as it is in use. In such annoying situations, you can use this method to eliminate that irritating program.
Go to the “Windows Explorer” and click “C” Drive to launch it. Here, you need to select “Program Files (x86)” from the list.
In this folder, you need to look for the program icon. Double-click to open as you find it.
You will see its “Uninstall” option here. Choose it to launch the Uninstall Wizard.
(If you see its “.exe” file, you need to right-click and select “Delete” option from the context menu. If you see a file with “.msi” extension, you need to delete it by using the Command Prompt)
Reboot the system to save the changes.
Use PowerShell To Remove Apps
Some specific applications and programs have been designed for Windows 8.1 and the latest version of Windows. If you want to remove them from the system, you cannot apply the traditional ways as I have discussed above.
Such as the applications like Photos, Calendar or Mail, etc. cannot be deleted by using the Settings or Control Panel methods. These are removed in PowerShell only.
It is a blue screen tool that resolves almost all of the administrative issues. Here is how to use it for removing the programs in Win 10.
Come to the “Cortana Search Assistant” and type “PowerShell” in its search bar. You will see it in the search results. Select it.
Now, being ignorant of the app’s Package Name, you need to type “Get – AppxPackage” and press Enter
It will show you the list of all of the apps and programs with the full names on the top.
Look for the app you want to remove. For example, if you want to delete “Photos” app, see the list to find it. As you get its name, see the “PackageFullName” option in it.
Now type “Remove-AppxPackage” with the “PackageFullName” in PowerShell to delete this program from Windows 10. For example, if you want to delete “Photos” from the system, you need to type “Remove-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.Photos_17.313.10010.0_x64_8wekyb3d8bbwe” and press Enter.
It will uninstall it from the system.
You can uninstall any program by using the PowerShell. I would advise you not to uninstall “Windows Store.” This program brings you all of the universal apps.
If you delete this program, you cannot install/reinstall any universal app later. So, uninstall any unwanted app, except Windows Store. Don’t touch it.
If you intentionally or unintentionally uninstalled it, the only way to get this program back in Windows 10 is the clean installation of Win 10. That’s why leave it aside and do not try to uninstall it.
