Huawei P10 Review

As a result, we can say that the Huawei P10 is one of the limited upgrades of the last few years compared to other Huawei products and that it has performed worse than the Huawei P9 in some aspects. Obviously, the Huawei P9 still maintains its popularity and continues to show that it is a good phone. That’s why the Huawei P9 in possession has no reason to buy the P10. On the other hand, the two phones can still use their preference from the P9.

Pros
  • design
  • Intelligent fingerprint scanner
  • Portrait mode
  • Front camera
  • Back camera daytime performance
Cons
  • Battery life
  • Price performance
  • Google Daydream is not compatible
  • Low light photo quality

The Huawei P10 does not bring much innovation compared to other phones on the market, and in this sense it has to be competitive in price. Yes, the price is more convenient than the Samsung Galaxy S8; but the $ 2500 dam still includes the Galaxy S7 edge, LG V20, Mate 9 and even OnePlus 5 and Xiaomi Mi 6. In this sense, Huawei can be a bit tricky with the P10. On the other hand, the P10 Plus looks more like a logical move than the P10.

The Huawei P10 does not address Huawei P9 users. But those who want to have the Huawei flagship and want to have a fingerprint reader with a motion sensor from the innovations of the P10, may prefer the Huawei P10.

How good is the Huawei P10; will it be purchased? In this review, we explain in detail.

Especially with the P9 model, Huawei is attracting attention to the camera and wants to reach the top level with the success he has achieved with the new model P10. However, while doing so, the Chinese company, which avoided major changes compared to the P9 in the new model, opted to make minor changes and sign new models.

Huawei, P10, as well as users looking for different preferences while preparing the P10 Lite model also offers a different option with the P10 Plus. There are differences in the technical staff and the screen between the 3 models. We will also talk about you throughout our review. But first let’s take a closer look at the design of the Huawei P10.

Design

Huawei P10 Review

The Huawei P10 is not much different from the P9 in design. Obviously this is not necessary, because we liked the P9 quite as a design. This line continues on the Huawei P10. Similar to the P9 as well as the iPhone 6S with rounded lines, the P10 appeals to the taste of the users with its numerous color options. Color options include Mystic Silver, Rose Gold, Graphite Black, Dazzling Gold, Dazzling Blue and Greenery. If you are going to Turkcele┼čtir, you can find silver, pink, black, gold, blue and green colors of the phone.

Just like the salafi, the Huawei P10 is 7 mm thick, 145 mm long and 69 mm wide. The weight of the phone is 145 grams.

The Huawei P10 is handy and comfortable to hold, with a significant difference in design and use compared to its predecessor. Huawei brought the fingerprint sensor at the back of the P9 to the bottom of the screen on the P10. In addition, there are no virtual buttons on the screen. On the other hand, there are no capacitive buttons like we are accustomed to. So, where are the back and application window buttons of Android?

Huawei has placed these functions in the fingerprint sensor. By sliding your finger over the sensor, you can perform these two functions. Thus, Huawei, who survived the crowd of screens with virtual buttons, has also succeeded in enriching the use of the sensor.

Although this usage is somewhat confusing in the first place, you are getting used to it in a very short time and you are beginning to use it fluently. However, it is still possible to change this. We will discuss this in the operating system section.

When you look around the Huawei P10, you find the power button on the right side of the phone, separated by a different sound button. Just above it are the sound buttons. The phone, which has microSD and SIM card slots on the left, has separate variants as single and dual SIM card models. The phone with the single SIM card at hand is equipped with a microSD card slot that can be upgraded up to 256 GB in the same slot.

When we look at the bottom of the phone, we find here the USB Type-C slot, next to the speaker slot and the good news for those who like – 3.5mm headphone jack.

Screen

Huawei P10 Review

Huawei, P10, P10 Lite and P10 Plus used different screen tall. We have a 5.1 inch screen on the P10. With this screen, the Huawei P10, which provides us a Full HD display, offers a display density of 432 ppi pixels and a screen-to-body ratio of 71.2 percent. Let’s also say that the screen on the P10 is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

We see a 5.2-inch screen in the Huawei P10 Lite and a 5.5-inch P10 Plus with a 2K resolution. Again, this screen has a density of 540 ppi pixels. In this sense, we can say that the P10 Plus’s screen stands out more remarkably.

If we go back to P10 again, we can not say that we saw much difference from P9. In this model, Huawei narrowing the screen by 0.1 inch, 432 pixels per inch, is still close to its predecessor.

The brightness of the screen is exceedingly successful. Especially in the summer months when we are exposed to bright daylight, you will not have any trouble to see the screen on this phone.

OS

On the Huawei P10, we see the Android 7 Nougat operating system. However, as we have seen in Huawei’s previous models, the new phone also features the Emotion UI. This time, the interface that comes with version 5.1 offers us some important changes.

Those who know, the Emotion interface look and function like iOS to a large extent. Huawei, which gives more users control with the new version, allows you to change many options from the Settings menu.

For example, on the main screen of the Huawei P9, we see 4 slots in the lower court, and we also could not find an application drawer. This operating system is very close to iOS with the Huawei P10, which brings us the application drawer. But you control here. You can place it in the Settings section, or you can remove it.

Another point you can change is the virtual buttons. Yes, when we talked about the design of the phone, we said that the virtual navigation buttons were not included. You can add or remove them again. It is also possible to change the ordering on the screen.

There are many other options available in the Emotion interface. All you have to do is set a little bit of Settings. Currently, Huawei P9 users have many of these options; I also have to say that.

Technical staff and performance

The Huawei P10 does not make much of a difference to its predecessor at the technical staff point. There’s even a HiSilicon Kirin 960 on Mate 9, which went on the market in November of last year. (Huawei P9 had Kirin 955.)

The 8-core processor consists of 4 x 2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 and 4 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 chips. On the GPU side, the phone with the Mali-G71 MP8 comes with 4 GB of RAM. Let’s also say that the phone has 32 and 64 GB storage capacity options.

So, how fast is the phone? We can say that the Huawei P10 makes about 50 seconds faster in a series of actions we did on both phones, especially if we were to respond by mentioning the test we made side by side with the Huawei P9. The Huawei P9 saw all of it in 3 minutes and 19 seconds, while the Huawei P10 completed it in 2 minutes and 27 seconds, as we entered the internet site on both phones and opened the game afterwards, running the benchmark software and then downloading the application from the market.

The result we obtained from the Geekbench benchmark software was 5888 points in the multi-core. This score is interestingly behind the 6478 points the P9 received from the same test. On the other hand, let’s say that you can compare the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with 6552 points from the same test and Galaxy S8 + with 6720 points.

Battery life

The battery life of the Huawei P10 was further improved by revising it compared to its predecessor. While the Huawei P9 has a battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh, the Huawei P10 has an output of 3200 mAh. However, in the tests we did, we still saw that the battery of the P10 was not great.

When we listened to music for 1 hour via Bluetooth with the Huawei P10, we saw that the battery decreased by 15 percent. Even though we did the usual 90-minute Full HD video test on the phone, let’s say the phone eats 20% of the battery after that time. In the same test, the Huawei P9 lost 15 percent. In the same test; We will also add that we are seeing a loss of 13 percent on the Galaxy S7 edge and an 11 percent loss on the Galaxy S8 +.

But when the battery of the Huawei P10 starts to run out, it is quite impressive to take battery power. So we can say that the battery of the phone is taking you as far as the evening.

Let’s say that you see 12 hours and 21 minutes on internet circulation and 13 hours and 11 minutes with total video playback. On the other hand, we saw around 19 hours of talk time.

Camera

The Huawei P9, especially the double rear camera and Leica lenses, has been spoken a lot. The Huawei P9, with its bokeh-inspired photographs, was using a pair of 12 MP lenses. In this model, Huawei once again presented the double lens to us, where he pulled one of the lenses to 20 MP.

On the phone, the two lensten 20 MPs are working as monochrome; 12 MP consists of RGB sensor. The phone with optical image stabilizer, 2x hybrid zoom, phase detection and laser autofocus has a f / 2.2 diaphragm.

In the shootings we made with the Huawei P10, we caught a lot of beautiful pictures especially in good lighting conditions. We can even say that it gives us the best quality of the Huawei smartphones we have ever encountered. However, we can not say the same thing for low light conditions unfortunately. We saw that the P9 gives better results in low light when shooting with two phones at the same time.

When we look at the front camera, we find the front camera with f / 1.9 aperture and sensor size 8 MP. The front camera of the phone works very well. In the photos you will share on the social media, you will be satisfied with the performance of the phone selfie.

On the Huawei P10, you can also find settings for beauty mode and bokeh effect on the phone. In this sense, there is no big difference in the predecessor model.

Lastly, let’s also say that the Huawei P10 records 1080p video at 30 frames, 2160p at 60 frames.
